Priyadarshini Ravichandran is a photographer who works closely with recurrent themes emerging in relationships that root, reveal or unsettle her. In this edition of Artist Talks, Priyadarshini will speak about how chance encounters, unspoken familial tensions, and mysteries hidden in the obvious have become inspirations for her work. The session will end with a brief conversation between the artist and Arnika Ahldag, Head of Curation & Exhibition at MAP, Bengaluru.

Priyadarshini Ravichandran

Photographer

Priyadarshini Ravichandran (b.1988, Tamil Nadu) is a photographer working closely with recurrent themes emerging in relationships that root, reveal or unsettle her. She is compelled to tell stories of women, their lives and the land. Poetics and interconnectivity inform her practice. Her process involves meandering, which often leads her to the heart of things.

An alumnus of the South Asia Incubator programme at Photo Kathmandu, Angkor Photo workshops, Siem Reap and ICP, New York. She seeks to collaborate with researchers, artists, friends, institutions, trees and animals- placing her in unexpected intersections. She is a recipient of the parasol prize by the V&A museum and her work was part of the Growing Like A Tree: Sent A Letter at Sunaparanta, Goa, and at Peckham 24, London.
