As we grow inexorably busier, our daily commutes are premeditated, with rushed journeys to fixed destinations. This leaves us with little time to consider how our city makes us feel. We invite you to a deep mapping experience of Bengaluru, providing new, exploratory tools to document the world using all five senses – sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste.
In this workshop, participants drift around a 3 km radius with MAP’s upcoming physical museum site as the epicentre; recording thoughts, observations, and routes taken on the provided toolkit. The workshop ends with a facilitator-guided sharing session, along with refreshments, at MAP’s Education space.
This workshop is in collaboration with The Reading Room. The Reading Room is a collaborative storytelling project that enables us to think of places differently.
This is a paid workshop with 30 spots available. The registration fee includes workshop facilitation, a specially designed toolkit, and refreshments.
This event is supported by the Our Shared Cultural Heritage (OSCH) programme. OSCH is a youth-led programme that explores the shared cultures and histories of the UK and South Asia. OSCH is organised in partnership with the British Council.

Neeti Sivakumar
Designer, Artist
Neeti Sivakumar is an interdisciplinary designer and artist with a background in architecture. She works with both physical and digital mediums to layer and synthesise existing urban conditions to develop social interactive experiences. As the founder of The Reading Room, she is creating a platform to build a community around the experience of place.
The Reading Room
Collaborative project
The Reading Room is a collaborative storytelling project that enables us to think of place differently. Through storytelling, we can take the initiative of redefining a place beyond its history and geography.
As makers of place, stories can be drawn from lived experiences or personal encounters. The Reading Room is home to all stories — from places without names on a map to segregated and integrated places, of places you wish you’d gone to or hadn’t, or the farthest you go in a day. The Reading Room works as a dialogue between storytellers and their listeners. The experience of a story will create conversations, trigger thoughts, and make meaningful connections.
It is supported by BeFantastic, Goethe-Institut/Max Meuller Bhavan, ZKM Karlsruhe.
