Whether you are an experienced sketcher or looking to begin your live sketching journey, this International Museum Day offers an opportunity for everyone, no matter your level of expertise. Here is your chance to learn new skills and become part of a community of sketchers! You can bring your own pencils and sketchbook or we will provide the materials for this session.
The theme for this year’s International Museum Day is “Museums for Education and Research” – engagement with various communities and audiences lies at the heart of engagements such as these.

Smitha Shivaswamy
Illustrator and Co-founder, Penciljam
Smitha Shivaswamy is an artist & entrepreneur with close to two decades of experience in Brand & Communication design. She co-founded Penciljam 15 years ago as a way to promote the idea of Citizen Art and is currently working on visual-thinking training for corporates. She spends her free time drawing, painting and sketching.
She also specializes in Designing for Social Impact and has worked with philanthropic organizations and foundations around the world including The World Bank, AVPN, Give2Asia and Sattva.
Penciljam
Penciljam started in 2009 as a small group of artists who gathered together to sketch from life. Over these past 15 years, Penciljam has conducted over 1000 on-location drawing events, and the Penciljam community have created tens of thousands of Artworks of their localities and cultural heritage.
Penciljam’s primary aim is to encourage Citizen Arts. They believe that the Visual Arts must be accessible to everyone. Their community features people from all walks of life, and of all ages – bound by a mutual love for drawing. Penciljam is a project of The Nabachika Foundation.
