What is a circle? As per sacred geometry, a circle represents wholeness; oneness. A circle recognises its parts, but is more than the sum of the parts offering holding to all that is inside it.

With The Holding Circle, a session facilitated by Expressive Arts therapist Nidhi Khurana, we aim to create a safe healing space where we pause from the hustle-bustle of life, reflect, share stories and create together. Drawing from the principles of Expressive Arts Therapy, we use the power of arts to connect with all aspects of us – body, thoughts and emotion. The Holding Circle will explore Art for Thought with the participants – a collection of reflective exercises paired with images from the MAP and Wellcome collections, developed as part of Mindscapes.

The session is open to individuals of 16 years and above. All materials will be provided.

Limited seats available.

This workshop has been curated in conjunction with our exhibition, Mindscapes: In the company of others.

Nidhi Khurana

Expressive Arts Therapist

Nidhi Khurana is a certified Expressive Arts Therapist based out of Bengaluru. Using various art modalities along with talk therapy, she facilitates powerful and potentially transformative spaces for groups of various compositions and backgrounds, from inmates of government run observation homes and children in communities to cohorts of artistes and employees in tech organisations.

Alongside groups, she works with individual clients across the spectrum of mental health concerns. While rooted in Western constructs of depth psychology, she also draws from her love for eastern practices of meditation, yoga and breathwork.

Prior to her foray into the world of therapy and inner work, Khurana had a decade long tryst with the retail apparel industry in analytics and business management along with a brief entrepreneurial stint in between. She eventually chose to honour her heart’s longing and took up Expressive Arts Therapy to work in the mental health space.
